Chocolate pearls are a relatively new addition to our gemstone palette. By bleaching a natural Black Tahitian pearl, man can create a beautiful bronze color pearl. The Japanese pearl farmers who invented the pearl culturing process have practiced and perfected the art of bleaching and polishing pearls for decades. The Tahitian pearl farmers are now using some of the same technology with the Black Tahitian Pearls.

Although they keep their processes proprietary, the consensus from the gem labs is that the unique bronze color is stable and will not change. We love the Tahitian pearls for their unusual natural black color and now their “chocolate” color.
